I'm officially 31 weeks today! It has been quite the week! We found out on Tuesday that our van was totaled. The parts/labor were estimated at just over $7,700, which wasn't too far below the estimated value of the van. It worked out alright, because they gave us enough to pay off our loan and give us a *little* money for a down payment. They also gave us about $149 to replace M's car seat (because most car seats need to be replaced in the event of ANY accident!), and will pay our sales tax on our next purchase (within 30 days) of a vehicle up to $8600-ish. So that'll save us another $500 or so. We picked up our check this morning and signed the title over, so we're currently a 1-car family. Joe's rental has to go back tonight. He's so bummed, he was really loving his Dodge Charger!
I had my 30 week appointment on Wednesday. It was just a quick, simple appointment. That same morning I had started noticing that the baby was moving less than usual. I mentioned it to the nurse, but since her heart rate was ok, they weren't too worried about it. I paid extra close attention to her movements all day Thursday and all night into Friday. Joe and I spent 45 minutes in the middle of the night trying to get her to move. Stubborn little thing! I called the doctor's office first thing this morning, and they wanted to get me in right away. I made a 10:00 appointment, and Tara went with me.
Long story short, my b/p looks great- 102/60, and her heart rate was good (148). They put me on the monitors for 20 minutes, during which time I felt her move 3 times, and her heart rate looked great. They aren't worried about her at all. Unfortunately, though, I had 3-4 contractions in that time, so they wanted to check things out. They did a Fetal Fibronectin test, which can give some insight into the possibility of labor in the next 2 weeks. Thankfully it came back negative, so I only have a 5% chance (or less!) of going into labor in the next 2 weeks.
While she did the exam, she did a cervical check. Apparently I am already dilating, and am currently 1 cm dilated. This news freaks ME out, but the doctor isn't overly concerned. She said I'm not effaced at all, which would worry her more. She wants me to take it easy, though, and stay hydrated. If I have more/stronger contractions this weekend, I'm supposed to head into L&D. Hopefully that won't happen! I'm also being treated for a couple of infections (one of which she doesn't know if I have, but since the results take 1 week to get back, she's going to treat me for it to be safe). All in all, I'm glad I called, and I'm glad I went in. Hopefully these contractions will stop and things will hold steady for a while! The doctor agrees with the other doctors I've seen so far- Baby is still head down! (I would take this with a grain of salt, but what they're saying goes right along with what I'm feeling, so I'm willing to believe them!) They will do an u/s at 36 weeks to confirm.
Tomorrow is my birthday. I'm pretty sure that we'll be spending the day car shopping. Yippee...not. :o) I can think of about a million other things I'd rather do. Oh well, it needs done!
