Well- it happened. LIFE. :-) We've been so busy with muddling through the day-to-day stuff, I haven't even thought about posting.
Here's a quick summary- The girls are GREAT. Madalyn started kindergarten in August, and is doing really well. She has started reading, writing sentences, and doing lots and lots of math. She has FIVE loose teeth (and the tooth fairy is on standby!), and thinks that's pretty great. She joined Girl Scouts in October, and has had some fun times with them, including her first roller skating experience (and MY first roller skating experience in at least 15 years- YIKES!). She is definitely a child with strong wills, and that has caused some tension and stress in our household. We're constantly trying to find better ways to parent her, and sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Overall, though, she's such an amazing girl. She mostly loves being a big sister, and it's fun to watch her and Katelyn playing together!
Katelyn is doing great as well! She's still a tiny peanut (she's 28 months old and just recently moved into 24 month clothes), but she has the biggest heart. Seriously, she is the sweetest little girl I've ever known. She's always full of smiles, hugs, cuddles, kisses, "I love you"s, and "oooh ya ya!'s" (oooh la la!) She had an echocardiogram earlier this year, and the doctors are confident that the mass on her tricuspid valve isn't growing. She won't have to be seen for at least another year! Yay! We've also recently introduced dairy- which she seems to be fine with! Double YAY! She's apparently not a fan of cheese, though. Ice cream is a winner in her book.
Not much different my way. I graduated with my Associates in Business and Accounting in May of 2014. For now, it doesn't really mean anything, because I plan to stay at my current job for as long as I can. I'm glad to have done it, though! I'm still enjoying my photography hobby, although I don't get my camera out as often as I'd like.
Joe had shoulder surgery on his right shoulder in November of 2013. He had a slightly torn rotator cuff, but more so it was his labrum. It was a rough recovery for him. Now he gets to do it again in a couple of weeks, but this time it will be his left shoulder, and it's his subscapularis tendon. Fun times. He's expected to be in a sling for 4 weeks, and then will likely have 2ish months of physical therapy. He's hoping that by getting it done early, he won't miss much of the softball season. He's in the middle of bowling season right now, so he'll miss some of that, but I know he'll be back at it as soon as he can.
We took a wonderful family vacation to Florida in October to visit our friends, Kim & Chad, and their kids, Jack and Aubrie. Kim and I met in 2nd grade, so she's one my my oldest friends. I LOVE that our husbands get along so well and have so much in common, and also that our kids are so close in age! Our trip was amazing. We spent lots of time together as a family, doing fun things like going to the beach, seeing the Blue Angels practice, going on a dolphin cruise, and just spending time with Kim & Chad.
Christmas has just passed, and we really had a great one. We took the kids to Build-a-bear for the first time on 12/22, and then we went to the Rainforest Cafe and Bass Pro Shops (to see Santa!). They had a blast. We spent time with both of our families over the holidays, and the girls were so great. They both seem to have enjoyed their gifts, and Maddy even came up with thoughtful gift ideas for both Joe and I (I got a much needed new wallet- mine was broken!, and Joe got a new watch). Such a sweet girl!
Well- here's to hoping I find more time to post in 2015! ;-)
