I shared my blog with a friend recently, and I realized that I totally failed to update after our most recent (recent meaning JULY) appointment for K. After much debate, we decided to see yet another cardiologist. Another friend had recommended Dr. Monica Goble, who works locally but is part of U of M's cardiology group. We made an appointment to meet informally with her, and we got copies of Katelyn's previous echos for her, as well.
The meeting went pretty well. She was very reassuring, and said she didn't think it was actually a myxoma, but she would share it with the U of M group and get others' opinions. After a few days, I received an e-mail from her. She said, "The consensus is that this is redundant (extra) tricuspid tissue and nothing likely to cause any problem over time. We agree it is worth looking at again in a few months. No one thinks it could possibly be a myxoma." Woo hoo! That is exactly the news we were hoping for.
Now, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still a little worried. We've had several "good" cardiologists look at this, and we've gotten conflicting opinions. I'm hopeful that this diagnosis is correct.
K has her next echo this Wednesday, 10/16. We'd appreciate all of the love, thoughts, & prayers we can get!
