Maddy's first attempt at writing her name!!
Life with two is definitely different, but I think that the transition from 1 to 2 kids has been easier than the transition from 0 to 1. It really helps that Katelyn is such an easy going, laid back baby. She almost only cries when she is hungry, tired, or needs a clean diaper. Maddy cried almost non-stop for the first 4 months, unless she was nursing. Needless to say, she nursed for pretty much the entire first 4 months, LOL.
I started back to work last Monday after 6 weeks off. It was hard to leave the girls, but I know that they're in good hands with both my mom & "Nana" (Carolyn, my sister's mother-in-law), so that helps. Maddy was excited to go back to Nana's to play with her friends. I was worried she'd have a hard time adjusting back to our old routine, but she didn't seem the least bit worried about it. She also started back to gymnastics last week, so she's in heaven. She's very excited for Halloween. I'm not sure what she's going to be, yet. She keeps changing her mind. First she wanted to be a Princess with a purple dress, now she wants to be a penguin. She's going to have to decide soon, though!
Katelyn is doing great! She's growing like crazy, but that's a good thing! I don't think I posted about it before, but the Dr. (and Joe and I) had some concerns regarding Katelyn that we needed to get checked out. When she was in the hospital, she failed her hearing test with her right ear. The Dr. referred us to an audiologist, so Joe and I took her in to have her tested again. She passed both tests with flying colors, so it looks like her ears are just fine! We were very happy to hear that!
I asked the Dr. to check out her sacral dimple, because it was fairly deep and she agreed with me that it should be checked out. She had an ultrasound done when she was a few weeks old to check for Spina Bifida. Thankfully the results came back perfectly normal!
Our final concern is a suspected heart murmur that the Dr. heard at her first check-up. She has an appointment this Thursday with the Cardiologist to have an Echocardiogram to make sure all is normal with her heart. While we're not overly concerned about it, we'd appreciate any thoughts and prayers you want to give us!
Aside from all of this, things are pretty much the same around here! Joe finished up softball for the year, and now he's started bowling. We've been trying to spend time outside while it's still nice. Hopefully the warm-ish weather will hang around for a while! I'm also hoping to start going through our house and getting rid of things we don't need/want/use. We have WAY too much stuff! We'll see how it all goes, it's hard to find the time for cleaning/organizing! =)
